Make time for your downward dog

I’ve met a few people who actually enjoy doing chores. These are the folks who love to spend a Saturday morning taking every tzotchke out of a glass cabinet, wiping down all the glass then carefully dusting each and every knick-knack before returning them to the newly cleaned cabinet. All the while whistling a happy tune. You know the type.

Case in point: I have a friend who does all her ironing after everyone else in the household is in bed. She says it’s when she does her best thinking. Zen and the Art of Midnight Ironing. I like that idea, but I still hate ironing.

I also know a whole slew of people who detest vacuuming, running errands, grocery shopping, laundry. They’d rather have and extended visit from the in-laws than stand in line at the post office during their lunch hour. The thought of waiting for the plumber to arrive sometime between noon and 5 on a Tuesday makes them consider doing without the use of their spare bathroom.

So which group do you belong to? Or, are you somewhere between the two extremes?

The key is to maximize your resources. And, for the majority of us, our most precious resources are our time and our money. If you’re the type who finds mundane, repetitive activities relaxing and mind-clearing—then by all means carry on. Ommmmm. But, if you’re the type who cringes at spending any part of your 24/7 doing things that 1) don’t add to your bottom line and/or 2) leave you with less time for your individual pursuit of happiness…then now is the time to think about outsourcing some of your ‘to do’ list.

When you decide it’s time to find a personal assistant service to lighten your load, be sure to shop around to find the fit that’s right for you. Don’t be fooled by low prices. Sometimes it pays to spend a bit more to make sure you get thorough, excellent service. In other words, don’t cheap out or you’ll probably end up redoing it yourself anyway. As with most things in life, it pays to find a balance between a fair rate and great service. Of course, we hope you’ll choose At Your Service for all of your personal assistant needs. Call us at 314.944.1382 or send us an email and we’ll get to work for you so you have more time for those downward dogs you’ve been neglecting.
